I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone connected with the Gateway Academy a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

As always, in any school, the last year has been extremely busy and very rewarding.  We saw our Year 11 students achieve the best results in the Academy’s history which now places us in the top 2% of all schools nationally for the value we add to education from Year 7 to Year 11.  This is a remarkable achievement and one that we should be extremely proud of.  However, we can always ‘Improve Upon Our Best’ and with the results we expect from the current Year 11, I am hoping that we will be in the top 1% next year.

We also saw the launch of our 6^th Form in 2009 which I am very excited about.  We started it very small, but I expect it to grow very rapidly year on year.  Having the older students around the Academy adds a new dimension and one which I know is very much appreciated by the younger students and staff alike.

We have also seen an explosion in out-of-hours opportunities for our students whether in sport, the arts or even creating a small business there are opportunities for our students to develop new skills and to make friends.

I’d like to thank all of our staff who work so hard to make this a happy and productive school; I’d like to thank all our students for being just fantastic and lastly, I’d like to thank all the Mums and Dads for your support and encouragement over that last year.
